I am considering building a new computer and I just have a few questions about Hard drives.

1) What is the difference between a 7200 RPM and 10000RPM drive and is one better than the other. Is a 10000RPM HDD worth it?

2) How much better is SATA 3.0 than SATA 150?

Any help would be appreciated.

1) 10,000 RPM (Rotations Per Minute) gets the data faster, so it's better than 7200RPM. It's worth it, but not many people get it right now.

You can also try getting the Maxtor MaXLine with a 16mb buffer. That's good too.

2) It's better, but it's not very useful right now. It'd be a very foolish thing to buy it right now, kinda like the DDR2 RAMs. Basically, just stick with the SATA 150.

I agree with both comments. The 10,000 RPM hard drives are hugely expensive compared to thier 7200 RPM counterparts. They're a little b it of a money pit right now.

Sata 150 will do the trick. It's pretty much the higher-end industry standard without breaking the bank.
