Hey all, got me a new 640GB Hitachi to replace my old 80GB. How would I go about cloning the 80 onto the 640? I know of several kinds of backup software but I'm really not sure what to do. I've already backed up any files I'm sure I don't want to lose.

Install windows on the new hdd and set the boot priority to it then plug in the old hdd and copy and paste your documents is the easiest way. Cloning softwarecan be annoying when trying to adapt it to different sized partiitions.

Use any of these. CloneZilla, Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. CloneZilla is free.

Since he already has a backup it is worth a shot. I have had very good luck with ghost for moving to larger disk sizes.

I think I'll go with hefemeister's option; I wanna go with XXClone to do so. Do I need to format the new drive beforehand? I've already set it up and such, shows in boot and XP disk management.

Edit: Did it, worked perfectly ^_^
