It's a relatively new move by Seagate. I'm talking from my experience with Maxtor HDDs back in the days. Two out of three HDDs I've owned failed. One just stopped working out of the blue, making all data corrupted. It was **** trying to get my info back. In the end, I did get a lot back, but some recovered files were still unreadable.
