Default Hd4870...512mb or 1gb?

Im gona b odering this card in a few day so jst wanted to know wether to go with the 512mb or the 1gb version...does the greater memory increases performance or will it be useful in something else? Basicaly i just want to know is it worth the extra cost to go with the 1gb version?

The 1gb version will do better at high resolutions

What resolution do you play at? usually the 512 does the job

i'd go with the 512mb version just because its cheaper and will give you really good fps anyway.

if u have a resolution of 1920x1200 or up get the 1gb if its anything lower then that the 512mb will be just as good

I got a resolution of 1440x900. Guess then ill go with the 512mb version. Thanx.

Even an HD 4830 would be sufficient for that resolution..

yeah a 4870 is overkill at that low resolution. i would save money and get a 4830 or 4850...or upgrade your monitor

4870 is overkill for 1440x900.

Get a 4850 or 4830.

Yeah like everyone is saying that's overkill for your resolution but maybe you should still stick with the 4870 and when you do get a bigger monitor you won't see any difference in performance :]

^ good idea. get the 1gb and once you get a bigger monitor you will be able to be to play at the high res without lag
