just found out the memory i was gonna buy wasnt haswell compatible, every time i look for RAM I find it very confusing and I could really use some help on finding some memory for my system before i go and buy it. Also I could use a few tips on what to look for in the future e.g. how fast does my memory need to be? what is CAS Latancy ext....

here is what Im looking for

1. 2 x 4 GB
2. no less than 1600mhz
3. not overly expensive
4. red or black color (I know  but my build will be black/red and blue dimms would look retarded)

P.S. part i will be using: 4670k, MSI-Z87 GD65 mobo (will be trying to OC later on)

For starters, a 4670k doesn't need OCing and won't need it for quite a while. On that note, memory speed and CPU clocks are not dependant on each other.

Things being "Haswell compatible", "SLI Certified", "approved for Windows *" it's all marketing. You can use whatever RAM you want in your machine as long as it's DDR3 and 1.65v or less (practically all DDR3 RAM these days).

So, anything that is 2x4 and 1600 would be fine. Does not really matter on brand anymore either.
