hhmm, I really am more of an Nvidia guy though, is there a huge difference between 9800gtx+ and the 4870?

I wouldn't call it 25%, but i'd definitely say 15%+, and expect that to get higher as you play in a high resolution or crank up the AA....

Seeing as how the 9800GTX+ is on par with the HD4850, which is about 10-15% slower then the HD4870, you get my reasoning. For the price of $200 and lower, its really hard to beat the 4870

stay away from the older phenoms. the e7200 will get you higher frame rates in games. get the core 216 if you can spare the cash. the older phenoms do suck. my friend has one and he got 13900 in 3dmark06 with a 4850 and i got 15900 with my q9300 and 9800gtx.

say what wattage would I be looking at for a 4870 or 9800gtx+ with 2 HDD and an e7300 at minimum without chopping off a lot of performance?

500 would be fine if that's what you mean. 520hx or something of the like. Also, everyone hear has recommended the 4870 over the 9800gtx+, it isn't much more money either, whats the point of considering it still?

Then if you want to stick with nvidea and can spend a bit more money go for the gtx 260 core 216...other wise go with the 4870.
