I don't really need a lot of space, and I'm thinking 200g's will be enough, but I'm not entirely sure.
There are two different hard drives I'm looking at right now, a;
Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 8MB Cache 250Gig

or

Western Digital Caviar SE 320Gig 7200RPM 8MB Cache
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144392

I know one is serial ata and one is ide ultra, but I'm pretty sure I have serial ata -> ide connectors or something, I'm sort of a noob on hard drives so any help would be appriciated.
Thank you :)

The first one is SATA and will work if you have a SATA connection. You really need to make sure your MoBo can support SATA.

i really doubt there is such thing as IDE>SATA.

What motherboard do you have? i'll look it up.

Look for Seagate drives with NCQ.

How would I find out?
I have an MSI K8N Neo4-F motherboard.

edit; Under the name, it says
" MSI K8N NEO4-F nForce4 Athlon 64 Skt939 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATA Retail"
Serial ATA, but I'm pretty sure I have ata to ide cables or something :amazed:

Ok, so your Mobo takes SATA, meaning that your first HDD is compadible. I havnt heard of ATA-> IDE cables, but note ATA and SATA are different.

But it's SATA. Is there a ata to sata converter or something I could buy, or is the extra cache even worth it ?
Serial ATA is SATA, you wont need a converter.
