Hard drive question.
Will a person see any performance difference between the 1TB Green WD and the 1TB caviar black WD?

Re: Hard drive question.
You mean Terabyte?
There will be specifications difference, I think the black have lower latencies or higher RPM, or even more cache. Far as I know the green ones are more energy efficient and the black are more for high performance. |
Re: Hard drive question.
blacks are faster but use more power and are a bit louder. Great for OS drive.
greens are slower using variable rpm's use less power and are more quiet. Great for Data drive. So it depends upon what you want it for. |
Re: Hard drive question.
The Black uses 7200rpm (rotations per minute) while the Green uses 5400rpm. The green consumes less power but lacks in performance, while the Black it's the opposite. You also have the WD Blue which is in the middle of the Green and Black.

Re: Hard drive question.
Black= somewhat slow
Blue= pretty slow Green= extremely slow Basically the Black series are the best performing WD drives excluding the pointless Velociraptor. |
