Hey

Thinking of getting a new hard drive for ma comp. Been looking up a few things. Found out that a 10k RPM hard drive with 8mb cache is pritty much slower than a 7200RPM 16mb cache hard drive. So i'm looking for a hard drive with 16mb cache which has at least 250GB of space. The only complication is if I should get 2 and run em in RAID 0 for extra performence. Any suggestions on a 16mb cache 250GB hard drive and is RAID 0 worth considering ??

whoever told you that a Raptor drive is slower than a regular ole 7200 rpm drive is cracked out. The cache doesn't play that much of a factor. If you were planning originally to use a raptor, then you should go back to that plan.

The Raptor will outperform a 16mb cache 7200 rpm hard drive but not by much. If the 7200 rpm HDD has NCQ it will further close the gap, making the difference barely noticeable. Not to mention Raptors are loud, hot, and you will pay 2x as much for half the capacity. They are horribly overrated IMO.
