Default hard drive choice

have started to get the bits for the new build around an asus p877v, but the current system is eating hard drives, samsung ones to be exact.
now i know the reality is i want an ssd BUT im in need of patching this one up to keep running. current thinking is seagate momentus xt 500gb or western black 500/750 .. done loads of reading about what is the better one , but it will be moving as a storage drive when the new system is built.
was thinking of using a 128gb samsung ssd with this drive as 128gb is hard for me to manage and not fill the thing within a week.
mainy games system, listening to music watching films, general web stuff. no video or picture work.

just wondering what others think on this ..

many thanks in advance

An SSD is a good idea, and they're not as hard to manage as you'd think, provided you have a separate drive for storage of large files like video. I have a 60GB SSD and manage fine with that - I can fit all my programs plus a couple of games. I keep my music and video on a separate drive since those don't benefit from the speed of an SSD.
