Default Hard drive

Hello, what is your preference on a fast, reliable, and quiet hard drive? I would like a raptor, but I think that will be way too loud for my taste.

Im pretty sure the SATA150 means that its transfers data at 150mb/s and then the 3.0gb/s transfers data at 300mb/s. Yea that one u have chosen seems fine, make sure it will work on ur mobo tho.
Hope it helps

The short answer is not alot for most practical purposes, unless you have several drives in a RAID system. Here is a thread that I think talks this pretty well:

Can someone tell me the noise level of a raptor? I guess I should just get one, but I really want a noiseless system. Thats why I am going watercooled.

the Raptor isn't very loud. it is a little bit louder than WD's other hard drives, but it isn't much of a difference

higher than average, but nothing to worry about unless your case is badly designed cooling wise

Well when I move to watercooling I plan to not have any case fans.

Say for instance, when booting windows, how long would it take on a 7,200 rpm sata hard drive, as opposed to a raptor? I still can't decide wether or not to get one.
