hello, i read on the internet that it matters on which chipset motherboard you get such as a h61 h67 p67 and a z68.
what i think the website meant is that h61 cant overclock the 2600k or 2500k that much as they cant change the core multiplier. though the p67 can and the z68 is a recall of the p67.

what i will be running in my system is a gigabyte ati 6850 and a normal hard drive.

the real question is which one would i be better getting, will overclocking the 2500k on the flash motherboard be better than the i7 2600k

the i5 2500k with a flash motherboard.

i5 2500k

or the i7 2600k

i have a Corsair tx 650 watt power supply
kingmax 8gb ddr3 1333 mhz

will that cheap 71 dollar motherboard have a effect on the i7 2600k ? or my system specs.

If you are going to buy a "K" series cpu, be it the i5 2500K or the i7 2600K, then you should buy a P67 or a Z68 mobo. And the Z68 is not a recall of the P67.

The H61 and H67 mobo's are designed for the non "K" series cpu. if you use the H61 or H67 with a "K" series cpu you are effectively changing the cpu into a standard i5 2500 or i72600.

okay. what would be better a i5 2500k overclocked to just say 4ghz or a i7 2600.
i will be playing games equivalent to battle field 3.

The overclocked i5 2500K or i7 2600K will always perform better than a stock speed equivalent .

2600k will overclock higher with the right board and cooling. But the 2500k is cheaper. If money isnt an issue get the 2600k. If you want to save a few bucks for 5-8% less performance the 2500k is the better buy.

heres a breakdown of the chipsets:

I would go with the z68x ud3 over the H61. The ud3 has a very nice look and layout. The only flak it has been getting is with its touch bios. Its a bit over sized and necessary, however its a nice addition to control your bios from your OS
