The 4870 is a great deal right now. It costs the same as 4850's did in December. The GTX260 core 216 cost ~$230.

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100259L Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I don't think you can beat that value.

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100270SR Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards - That's a great deal. I paid $339 for mine. I couldn't be happier with this card. It chews up EVERYTHING I throw at it. Although, sadly... I'm slightly limited by my opty 180... Yea yea... I want an i7.

Also for the price that beats the GTX 280 which is like an extra $50

My GF is getting a huge accident settlement soon and I will be building a monster.

I think the HD4870 1gb needs to be above the GTX 260 core 216, not equal to it. The latest anandtech multi gpu articles included both cards and at 1900x1200 the HD 4870 1gb won at every game except COD W@W

AnandTech: MultiGPU Update: Finding the True Halo with 4-way

Zmatt posted the result's of each game and boulded the winner.
