I have a 24" as my main at home, a 20" here at work, and just had to deal with some stuff on one of the employees machine that has a 30". I think 24" is the perfect size for gaming if you can afford it. Anything past that and you really have to push it so far away from you that it becomes a pain.

I have to disagree, it is double the price of a 22'' and not a huge difference
19-22'' is ideal for the average gamer

The reason a 24" monitor goes up so much in price above a 22" is the same reason that going from 19" >20" has a fairly large jump in price. At 24" you go from 1680x1050 > 1920x1200. Gotta pay for those extra pixels.

I guess I will use the 40" and buy a new 22" down the road. Was trying to save some money so I could put it towards hardware in my new build but I see what you guys are saying.

honestly man, with a max reso of 720p.....the 40" isnt worth it. I'm in the same predicament, i have a 32" which i am currently using, and i plan on buying a nice 24" with 1920x1200 naitive reso so my games looks extra sexy

Ya, huge screens are awesome to game on for a while. But trying to use one on a desk of any sort makes it difficult. It will be fine.. But a 24in. true monitore with 1920x1200 would be KILLER if you have the $$$ for it.

the only advantage id have from my tv is its 1080p and has a contrast of 10000:1 and a 2ms refresh rate lol, it kills my monitors with 1280x1024 res and 1600:1 cr and a 8ms refresh rate, the thing is tho, id get a head ache from the cr on the tv when using the internet, and its way to big thats why i stick with my 19 ''s

720p isn't the max I could use, could use 1920x1080 on it. But yea, I understand what you are saying. I get a headache using this huge screen all the time.

1080i isnt 1920x1080, its something like 960x520 stretched out and interlaced. if you set your reso to 1920x1080 you will be in for a suprise. Unless you can figure out how to get 1080i out of your comp which i have only ever seen one person do. Other then that your looking at 1360x768
