GTA4 runs best on a quad. you may want to look into something like this (if your motherboard can handle it, of course):

Yeah, cpu upgrade is next on my to do list, but the mobo i have it pretty new & is a
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4 790X Socket AM2+ 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard. So to my understanding is that i can take AM3 CPU's but wont work for DDR3 just DDR2 which isnt a problem for me.

Yes, your mobo would be good to go with it.

Hmmm... reading through some stuff on your mobo, you may want to consider some cooling for the northbridge. I found several instances of very high temps. Something like one of these:

Do they fit on well? as it looks a bit topside heavy to me or i presume they have fittings to connect threw the mobo..

They attach via pushpins, or the one I used did (the fan on my NB died a while back and had to be replaced).
