Default Which grafix upgrade?

Hi I have finally managed to palm off my 1950PRO on my friend, so i need a new grafix card. I have a budget of £120 to spend. If anyone else has a different idea on what to do, please contribute.

1.) Wait for the 8800GS and check out its performance.

2.) Wait for the Radeon 3600 series and check out thats performance.

3.) Get this: XFX 8800GT 256

4.) Get this: Sapphire radeon 3850 256

On a side note, do you think that £50 is a fair price to charge my friend for my X1950PRO?

Thanks.

How does the 8800GT 256 stack up against a 3850 256 or a 3850 512? Cause the GT is only a bit more expensive.

I game at 1280x1024, e6300 @ 2.67GHz, MSI P35 Platinum.

I wouldn't buy anything less than a 512mb card at this point in time.

The 3850 is a great choice, trust me you'll be very satisfied.

Do the 3850s clock well? Also what do you think about waiting for the 3600 series/8800GS?

Most do about 740-760mhz on stock vcore...and you can pencil mod them very easily

I'm running mine 953/1098 24/7 Underwater though

But since im only at 1280x1024, and play with at least 4xAA then the GT would be the better choice wouldnt it?

I dont think so. I play at 1440x900 which is a lower resolution than 1280x1024 and CoD4 uses about 340mb of vram with 6xAA and 16xAF....

poop on 256mb

I thought the GT 256mb had much better benchmarks then a 3850 at lower resolutions? Am I wrong in this assessment?
