Default GPU Upgrade HIS X800 XL--> ????

I'm seriously considering about upgrading to a 7600GT fairly soon. Here's what's rattling around through my head. Will I get a large increase in game play performanace and "eye candy" by upgrading from my HIS IceQII X800XL? Also, I'm keeping SLI in mind for the future. It seems logical to later on get another 7600GT for SLI and still have it be cheaper than getting the coveted 7900GTX. Any thoughts? I love to play first person shooters and F.E.A.R. really got on my nerves with an average frame rate of around 50. And that was without the "eye candy" effects. Obviously, soft shaddows were turned off just in case any of you were wondering. If I upgrade I'm gonna sell the old card and was hoping to end up paying $100 at the most out-of-pocket. You think $100 is too low or too high for my current card?
