My friends got bored of gameing on his Xbox 360 and decided to try out pc gameing, and what a way to start with £2,500 to build a PC, im not used to looking at hardware within his pricerange so i don't really want to do it for him, any suggestions on what he should get ? he wants to play Crysis on his dads 30" Dell Screen at some ridiculous 2560 by something resolution, on max settings, i dont think any money is gona deliver him that, but he's determined to ahcieve it.

Man im jealous, this is the kinda budget i dream of. Anyway, fire some specs at me , can be american or english website, just a rough idea.

LOL with a 5000 dollar budget it seems kinda overkill but hey, if you're willing to spend that kind of money you may as well go big or go home.

Just off the top of my head, with that kind of budget you can probably easily fit a Core 2 Extreme CPU in there, dual Ultras in SLI, maybe a few terabytes of storage, 4 gigs of RAM, and of course Vista Ultimate since he wants DX10 and SP1 is on the way. Oh and don't forget about maybe a tuniq cooler or something so you can overclock that beast. If I had more time, I'd try to make a more detailed list for you with links but I have to go. Have fun! I'm sure this will be a great experience for both you and your friend.

$5,000 PC... shwow.

Especially as he lives near me, i think my visits to him will become far more frequent. Arn't intel Xeon's faster ? or am i totally wrong, just thought taht becaus ethere on £15000 Voodoo PC's, this is why im asking you guys. Also, is it at all possible to have 2, Intel Extreme Processors ? cus thatd be mighty cool, and Quad SLI. Because he told me his budget is 'quite variable' he also said, i dont care aslong as it runs crysis max at 2560 by wotever it is.

Oh by the way, he's kinda rich :D.

he's got keyboard/mouse/monitor speakers etc etc all ready. he just needs the PC. :)

you can't have 2 Quad-Extremes on one board (not yet i guess...)

Xeons are faster... but those are built for Servers... i don't know how they perform in games...

Hey if you really want 2 CPU's on one board, I think AMD has something like that with their FX 7* series CPU's but I think it still isn't faster than a single quad-core core Core 2 Extreme. And besides, quad-core is almost like having 4 single core CPU's, except they're all on the same chip and share L2 cache.

I think these voodoo pc's must of been server like then. They had TWO Quad Core Xeons and Quad SLI with 32Gigs of ram.

hmm try a qx6850, an asus striker, 2 xfx 8800ultras, 4gb of cruciual ram a cm stacker 832, liquid cooling to oc liek a monster, and 2x 750 gb wd hdd in raid 0. and to top it off a 1000w enermax galaxy psu, then he can just pick up any disk drives that he need, and get windows vista for dx10 i sugest ultimate. here are the specs and the price.

there is the most monstreous pc i have ever thought off.

now that is in canadian, so where ever you are you should be fine, its just to give you an idea of what to get.

p.s. where the price doubles, thats because i doubled it up, meaning you have two of them like the ultreas and the 4 gb of ram and the hdd's and the disk drives.

Hey if you really want 2 CPU's on one board, I think AMD has something like that with their FX 7* series CPU's but I think it still isn't faster than a single quad-core core Core 2 Extreme. But then haveing 2 Quad Core CPU's is like haveing 8 single core cpu's :)
