I wouldn't go for a 19" LCD if your gaming. Go for a 17" LCD with 8ms or lower. The reason why is 19" LCDs are pretty much forced to be ran at 12 x 10 resolution, so if a game starts to put strain on your GPU instead of putting it to the gaming standard (1024 x 780) you'll have to lower down graphics other wise if you try that res on a 19" LCD it's going to look like crap, where as 17" LCDs have smaller pixels so it doesn't look bad on 1024 X 780.

Samsung and Viewsonic are both really good monitors. Just get something with a 8ms response time or lower and about 300 for brightness. A 17" will be sharper at lower resolutions like Beefcake said. My advice is to throw some game movies on a flash drive, go to an electronics store, and play them on various monitors to see if the difference in quality is a big deal to you. My 19" Samsung looks just fine to me, it might not for you.
