also for $500 you could do some great upgrades to that rig but at this point in time any suggestions would be worthless as prices change so quickly. (cpu and gpu)

The 8800gt is ok, but by todays standards it's more of a low-end gaming card. This computer will serve you well for light gaming and office use but don't expect to play newest games on high settings.

The 8800GT is not a low end card. It is still medium-high. My friend has one and he maxes all the new games besides Crysis at 1920x1200. He can't crank the AA up on all of them, but that card is nowhere near low end. Low-end is gonna be like 6800, not 8800. I was gaming on one of those up until two and a half months ago. Games still only require 6600. Low-moderate is gonna be like 7800. Then I'll say moderate is in the 7950-8600 zone. I'll cut moderate-high off at 9800gtx+/gts 250 and HD 4850. Then High is above that up to 285. The others are just uber. That's just how I look at it anyway.

A 4850 is really like a mid range card nowadays and a 4890 or gtx 285 etc are the high end cards, then gtx 295 continues as the best. If a 4850 is really a mid range card, even thought its performance is great, compared up against gtx 295's and such its a mid-high range card. The 8800gt is significantly slower then this card which is the theory behind my reasoning. But your right, the 8800gt still will max out most games on 61680x1050 juts not at huge frame rates, but still sufficient to play.
