okay so here is the setup i am going to have....

1.asus 750i SLI board
2.intel quad core Q9550 2.83ghz 12mb cache 1333 FSB
3.4 gb ddr2 800 mhz
4.wd caviar hd 500 gb 32 mb cache sata/3
5.SLI 2x geforce 8800GT both clocked at 640 mhz
6.soundblaster audigy/with m-audio usb

whatcha think? i bet its worth a 5.9 in vista all the way down LOL

can you even buy the 8800GT's anymore? I thought they were discontinued.

some are selling as recertified....but the 9800gt is the same g.92 gpu and everything so if i have to do that i will but i already have one 640 mhz core xfx 8800 and i am gonna get a evga 600 mhz core 8800 to run them together..

ah.
i would try to find a chart (on toms maybe) to compare performance results between sli'd 8800gt's and a single something-higherend. you could eaisly sell an 8800gt if the price per performance ratio is right.
If not i would do what your are planning on.

how much more performance will ddr 1066 mhz be over 800?

is it worth getting the ddr2 1066 and possibly overclocking to 1200?

or is 800 fine?

800 is fine. You can OC PI Blacks to 1000 MHz with low vooltages, but when you get to 1066 MHz you have to like 2.3 volts? And get 4-5-4-12 timing? Not too sure, but you can OC to 1000MHz fine with PI blacks.
