So a while back I began the task of upgrading a few parts to my existing computer, as well as using the old parts in a new computer (along with buying all the other parts that I don't upgrade). Which I've discovered isn't as easy as I thought it would be. My current specs: Q6600, 8800GTS SSC, 4gb RAM, DFI Bloodiron P35, Antec Neopower 650 blue.
Here's all the parts I planned on purchasing:
For upgrading my existing computer:
Motherboard: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3LR LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
PSU: Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies
GPU: Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100269SR Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Monitor: Newegg.com - Acer X223Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2500:1 - LCD Monitors
For "new" computer:
CPU: Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E2200 Allendale 2.2GHz 1MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
RAM: Newegg.com - A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model ADQVE1A16K - Desktop Memory
Hard Drive: Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250310AS 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
-Along with the 8800GTS SSC, DFI Bloodiron p35, and the Antec PSU.
Now in the interest of saving money\heat\problems, I was considering getting a motherboard with onboard graphics and using my current PSU with my new video card - Buying a 400W-500W for my new computer. Because my 8800GTS runs @ 50C+ idle with the fan at 100%.. I fear what it would do in my other case.
Now.. Onto my other "problem", I'm not a heavy-gamer really. and am wondering if the 4890 would just be a waste of money. I plan on playing Left 4 dead, CoD4, TF2, GTA IV.. And that's about it for the time-being, which I know most of those aren't THAT heavy on the GPU. Oh, and the resolution I plan on playing on is 1680x1050.
All the stuff listed above is about
$700 after rebates (including shipping), if I could get it any lower that would be great.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry about my rambling..
