why is this card cheaper than the 8800 gts 512?

also since i got the 90 day step up program w/ the 8800 gts, will i be able to get this card free? since its cheaper than the 8800 gts??

It's a 9600, not a 9800, that's why it is cheaper. That and the new chips are supposed to be cheaper this time around.

I doubt this card is better than an 8800GT. Only 64 stream processors on this card, everything else is about the same except for slightly faster shader.

Is that about where it fits in?

so many gpu's. Why wouldn't they compare it to the 3870? Prices are similiar. Probably because it would get beat all over the place

$199 + tax is a GREAT deal for a q6600.... i saw that is morning in an e-mail newsletter from microcenter.
