Okay here goes. I got about $1,600 +/- $100 to spend and was thinking of switching to ATI since clearly the GTX 300 is not coming out any time soon for BF:BC2.

First, I'll just go over the iffy items... I don't really want to get the eVGA mobo since it won't allow for crossfire so the only logical choices appear to be Asus or Gigabyte:

GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 LGA 1366: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Asus P6T Deluxe V2: Newegg.com - ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

That said, suggestions for a different board? I'm really not sure how much it matters. I've up to now been with Asus boards since the start, but I'm not really sure I want to keep that trend up.

Next up is the case:

HAF 932: Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

or Antec Twelve Hundred: Newegg.com - Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

I don't think that's going to be a big issue... just needs to fit the massive video cards within which both are confirmed to be able to do....

Okay, so at this point I will say I am going to ge the Sapphire 5970 when it is available since it is cheaper than two 5870s in crossfire and I can slap a second one in down the road Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100280OCSR Radeon HD 5970 (Hemlock) 2GB 512 (256 x 2)-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Dual GPU Onboard CrossFire Video Card w/ Eyefinity - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

So, with that, I need at least from what I read, 1,000W or more of power. I have NO IDEA what to get, but I think Thermaltake, Silverstone, or Antec look the best:

Antec: Newegg.com - Antec TPQ-1200 1200W Continuous Power with PowerCache Technology SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Thermaltake: Newegg.com - Thermaltake Toughpower W0133RU 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Silverstone: Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST1200 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

I need the most help with the power supply.... in the 1kW range there are not many options and I want it to be able to feed two 5970s down the road.

Memory, I'm 100% sure I'm going to get Corsair. The question is, pay an extra 50 bucks for 7-7-7-20 or stay with 8-8-8-24 timing memory:

Between these two:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C7 G - Desktop Memory

Newegg.com - CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D - Desktop Memory

Again, I am up for other suggestions

Anywho, other than that I am going with thee intel i-7 920, got a 1366 clip accessory to use my zalman cps9500A cooler for overclocking, got a good soundcard and the x-fi creative headphones, and two 1TB seagate barracudas... not really sure I'm going to change that up!

So, that's what I'm thinking and know I have to wait 1 month+ for this to work with the 5970s out of stock.

The main goal of this PC will be to play bad company 2 flawless at 1920x1200 and hopefully last a good few years.... which probably will mean a vid card upgrade as always .... yay

Thanks in advanced for any help!

The evga a1 does both sli and crossfire as do most x58 motherboards.
Newegg.com - EVGA E758-A1 3-Way SLI (x16/x16/x8) LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

with that of your two choices I ould go with the asus as it is the board I run and am very happy with it.

I like the haf over the 1200

at 1920x1200 a single 5870 will be plenty of gpu but if you want to wait for the 5980 your choice. The 300's may be out by then. :)

ATI Radeon? HD 5970 System Requirements

1000watts will be plenty of power unless you are running some water cooling.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies

the cas8 will be plenty fast. Especially since you OC will be limited by your Zahlman. :)

Thanks for the info... totally could have just read the specifications!

One thing, you said that the "cas8" will be plenty fast. I'm missing what you are referring to...
