great build!

this ram is cheaper and has slightly tighter timings:

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8TU-6GBPI

only other thing i would recommended is getting an aftermarket cooler, you are getting premium parts and dont skimp on the CPU cooler, you will want to overclock as much as possible to squeez out as much performance as possible from your processor. this is arguably the best cooler on the market.

Thanks very much for the input. I was planning on buying an aftermarket cpu cooler, but I saw this gpu cooler for the 5970 and was wondering if you think that's worth a purchase too.

Amazon.com: Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME 5970 VGA Cooler: Gateway

I named the link "this" in my post above. It's hard to see with the page background.

Do you think I should go with a 1920x1200 monitor, or spend twice as much on a 1440P?

These are what I had in mind:

1920x1200

1440p
