When you have two different HDDs you don't put them in RAID. RAID is for when you have two or more of the same HDD and you want to put combine them for redundency or speed or both. When you just have two seperat drives, you don't have to do anything. You just install your OS on the smaller SSD and then when you get into windows, it will just show that you have another HDD and you can put whatever you want in it.

For the case, there is a lot of personal preference involved in case choice but I have to say that after having my rig for a little while, I'm happy I have something that is fairly easy to work with and I think the more basic look won't get old. If you want, look at some silverstone cases, they make some good ones too. I would highly recommend going with a full tower. Much more room so you can have the flexibility to do what you want with it and they are easier to work in.

For the sound card, get a this bad boy

Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar D2X 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards

You won't need a network card as long as you just run an ethernet cable to your computer which I STRONGLY recommend over wireless. If you have to use wireless though, heres my suggestion.

Newegg.com - D-Link DWA-556 IEEE 802.11n (draft) IEEE 802.11g IEEE 802.11b PCI Express Xtreme Desktop Adapter Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, WPA2) - Wireless Adapters

As far as temp monitoring goes, there are several free programs which will be much better than a fan controller. There really is no need for one. If you really want one just for ****s and giggle though:
'
Newegg.com - ZALMAN MFC2 Muti Fan Controller - Controller Panels

I've got this one to control the fans on my watercooling radiator and its pretty cool.

I've never done raid before, so I can't help you there. A bigger psu would be overkill unless you plan SLI later.

Midtower is fine.

OSU, nice. I'm going to be starting there in the fall. They have the nicest campus out of all the schools I've seen. That rec they got there, the largest in the nation, is sweet. They have so many different options that I could change my mind if I ever felt I didn't want to do computer engineering anymore. And they are pretty much good at everything they have as well. The only school in Ohio ranked higher than them is Case, and they charge a lot. They only gave me 15 grand in Scholarships, and when the total expense for each year is 50k, screw that. OSU only gave me 2.1, but it is still a lot less in total. I believe their max academic is 2.5k, so I don't think it is too bad. You got a full ride though, right? Pretty sweet. What position do you play in football? I assume you aren't a starter are you? All those guys get drafted, don't they? Is there like a computer LAN club or anything sweet like that there?

Sorry for the block of text, but I'm just happy to meet someone who attended my future university.

Edit: I guess I was beat while I was deciding what to put in here while having an xfire conversation. Oh well, Pinsch was more helpful anyway.

Oh ya about that 900w PSU... completely useless. That 750w PC Power & Cooling will run SLI GTX 285s with ease.

Tri-SLI would take a 1000w PSU but tri-sli is useless unless you have a 30" monitor

I'm sure a corsair 1000hx would do it. I would personally get myself one of these bad boys if I was going to shell out the money on tri-sli

although, with tri-sli the scaling (generally) isn't great, and you'll the third card won't come it to useful if WoW is the hardest PC game your into, I was suggestin dual monitor because nothing says "bada**" like having two 26" screen, then you will need to at least sli, you don't have to game and split your screen if you don't' want too ( the separated screen gets old quick in games)

but it's great to be able to hit pause, roll over the other screen, do whatever you want and then be able to just scroll right back into the game when your done, and with an i7 you can definitely do it

it is your choice though,

Altec Lansing makes good systems, I myself built my system from scratch, running everything through the receiver and pushing out about 1500w RMS with my sub, great for getting in the game mode,

(also knocks pictures off the walls and pi**es of the neighbors)

If your going tri-sli then get this motherboard and this power supply instead of the above. Don't bother with dual 26" its a silly layout just get either a 24" or a 30"

I should have cleared up what "OSU" I was talking about lol. I went to Oklahoma State and not Ohio State. I was recruited by those schools but I wanted to get out of the state and go somewhere far away. Out of state was pretty cheap for me but with the scholarship I didn't have to worry about it. I don't play football anymore because I hurt both my knees and walking when I get older is more important than killing myself in football.
