I thought Windows 64-bit was like 20gb.

Once installed, it expands out to around something like 19GB. But the installation iso file is around 4.5GB.

Microsoft says you only need a 4GB drive, but this is not practical. Yes, when looking at a brand, spanking-new, un-updated, copy of windows 7 64-bit, you're looking at around 3GB. However, the copy you buy most likely will already have service pack 1 slipstreamed in (that immediately bumps it up to 3.96GB).

Mine is on a 4GB flash with SP1 and it's Ultimate. I just tell people 8GB because they are cheap and you can put more stuff on it like downloaded drivers and such.

You're right. I asked one of my co-workers if this "particular" ISO had any updates slipped in besides SP1, and he said "No", then he says "oh, maybe it does." ugh. Turns out a even a clean Enterprise Win7 iso with SP1 is about 3.2GB.

Like you said though, I'm still going to tell people to get an 8.
