I have put computers together before and have no problem with the basics, but I have no clue how to OC or mess with bios really. Based on this, I would enjoy suggestions on a nice gaming setup. It has been a couple years since I've put one together, so if there are any tips are tricks that might be new that would be nice to know as well. Thanks in advance.

RAM: g skill 2gb ddr2 800mhz

Those would be your main parts to look into.

youd be very hard to fit a E6600 and an 8800gts in the same budget. Heres a trick though, but not really.

Buy a C2D
Buy a well overclockable Mobo such as the DS3, P5B Duluxe or P5B-E.
Get DDR2-800 RAM
get aftermarket fan.
OC that puppy to BLAZING fast speeds.

OC isnt really all that hard and is much safer as opposed to 6 or 7 years ago when parts would blow up. if you were to buy a Core 2 Duo and not OC it I probably would laugh unless your other parts didint alow it. Then i would say shame on you for not picking parts to make your C2D a tad OC'able.

That is what I have so far. Its a little over budget but might be alright. LMK of anything I might switch out to lower price. Also, how do you overclock something? Is it in the bios setup?

Thanks

Don't use the power supply that comes with the case, get a good one.
Yes, you overclock in the bios.
