Default Gaming Build for a Friend, Under $1000

Hey, I haven't been into PC building for a while and I fell out of the loop a little, but I think I'm mostly intact. I have a friend who wants to build a computer that can run Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and any current and upcoming games that are out there at max settings. I'm trying to keep it under $1,000 for him. I got a list of parts and I just want to be sure that I'm getting him the most bang for buck out of this, and if there's any suggestions I could use to improve this thing.

As far as he's told me, he's looking at a computer that works and can still be good several years down the line, and that it works without having to tamper around with settings. He wants a screen too, so that's part of the $1,000 upper limit. I'd appreciate it to keep it as much under $1k as possible.

Without further ado, here's what I've cooked up:

Case: Newegg.com - Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Mobo: Newegg.com - MSI 770-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU: Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana 2.9GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor
RAM: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM
HDD: Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

OS: Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - Operating Systems

get a quad core processor, they arnt much more expensive and are totaly worth it.

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor

i didnt see that you have a monitor in your budget, if i were you i wouldnt buy a monitor brand new while building a budget desktop, i would go on craigslist and try to find a decent one for cheap, when building a budget computer its best to focus as much funds on things that have processing power, CPU, GPU, RAM.

also im not sure if a 500W powersupply is enough...

heres another build you could get, which would still be within your friend's budget.

Oh wow, this actually is overall a better deal. After rebates it's only $20 more than what I proposed. Thanks, gonna show this to my friend!

Hi, me again. My friend had some stuff come up and he held off on the computer for a bit. He's buying it soon for sure now. Same conditions as before apply with wanting to run those games at max settings or pretty high otherwise, $1,000 maximum, tower along with monitor and keyboard + mouse in the budget. I've looked around and this is the best I could come up with. Just wanted a final run-through.
