Yep the DS3 is an excellent board for the price...I highly recommend one

That or if you want things like external SATA or firewire the P5B-E has.

I would go with the pre-overclocked one. It's only $10 difference, and they wouldn't have two versions if there wasn't a noticable difference.

everyone knows that k8l will demolish c2d.

Overclocking is the way to go. To give another example my system at stock does ~6,700 in 3dmark05 and when overclocked it does ~10,500 in 3dmark05, I just keep at a setting that gives ~10,000 to keep the heat down. So thats around 50% increase and theres a huge difference in actual game play as well.

The Asus P5b is another really good intel board.

The Asus P5B-E supports RAID5 while the DS3 supports only 0/1 I believe
