That's my system so far. The only parts I'm concerned about are the Motherboard and the RAM, as I'm not to thorough in those areas. Can someone tell me if my selections are worthy for a good system. Also, please give recommendations. If something doesn't look good or right on this list, such as RAM configurations, please tell me.

Thanks!

Also, I don't plan to upgrade to Vista, at least not right when it comes out, so I have no need for a DX10 card yet.

why ati? you have an SLI board yes ati will work but i would get an nvidia card then when you want to sli just get another one... if not you would have to sell your ati and get an nvidia or 2 ... just my 2 cents

the dvd drive is an overkill, just get a 30 buck samsung or lite on it will do you perfect
that video card is also an overkill for the price its not worth it
for a powers upply go with a antec true power trio 550 watt it will be more then enough to power that system and its only 100 bucks
for ram go with a cheap gskill ddr2800 set dominators are overpriced
and if your not doing sli then go with a cheaper motherboard like an asus p5b, msi 975x, or an abit aw9d

Mmm, how come the Plextor drives are so expensive? They have good ratings, though. Also, I chose the motherboard because it had good ratings and it looked decent enough. However, if I'm getting an ATI card, should I go with a motherboard other than EVGA, or one that supports ATI? I guess I should go with a cheaper drive. I just liked the unique style of the slot loader, as I have a Nintendo Wii and the slot loading mechanism is so cool! Anyways, thatnks for all the replys, and I will be looking for alternative pieces for my set.

One more thing, is their a good sound card that anyone could recommend. I here, though, that sound cars aren't worth the money and that on board sound is just fine. Yet, I would like decent sound, as I'm going to be playing games, watching movies, and listening to music.

any creatives are good.. the x-fi is great.... your mobo will work wiht an ati card but you cant crossfire on an sli chipset... so if you want an ati card..... get a crossfire board....

you are making a very unthoughtout and ill planned build. What are you going by for video cards? the ones with 300 reviews 5/5? lol.

You would be making a mistake buying that 1950xtx. if you want to wait till dx10 bugs are worked out get a 1950pro. instead. Or better yet, a 8800gts. O dang a nvidia card. I bet it is so bad because it outperforms the 1950xtx right?

You must not understand how dx10 works. you can play all your games in dx9 mode and it will be just like any dx9 card with better performance. YOu don't have to have vista to use a dx10 card......
