I was looking at the opt'ies and was wondering if you can run them only on server motherboards? cause on newegg, none of the amd-compatable boards have the opertrons listed as compatible

Any socket 939 motherboard will run an Opertron.

They will run them but they dont SUPPORT them. So if you screw something up, youve voided the warranty by using a cpu that isnt supported. Its just a chance you have to take if you want an opty.

so EVERY 939 mobo will work? or just the ones that seem like they would if they support everyother one?

you can run socket 939 opties on socket 939 mobos, and you can run socket 940 opties on socket 940 mobos....
