HDD activity goes on pins 1 and 3, with positive on pin 1.

As for the thing between the boxes on the 2nd pic... that's a blank connection spot on the board for if the factory were to want to put more USB headers on the board during manufacturing. Nothing you need to worry about.

ok this is my last question before i start to assemble the parts

the front connectors that I have in my PC case are labeled as follows

HD AUDIO - 9 FEMALE PORTS
AC'97 - 9 FEMALE PORTS
(the top two above are on the same cable,
AC'97 is wired off of the main HD Audio cable)
I do plan on using the onboard sound

1394 - 9 FEMALE PORTS - I dont care if this works
USB - 9 FEMALE PORTS - I dont care if this works
SPEAKER - 4 FEMALE PORTS
-P LED - SINGLE FEMALE PORT
+P LED - SINGLE FEMALE PORT
HDD LED - 2 FEMALE PORT
RESET SW - 2 FEMALE PORT
POWER SW - 2 FEMALE PORT

which goes where on my mobo ?

page 11 and 12 on the manual for a more detailed view

They are all designed with one pin missing so if your look at the USB port on the board, there's only one logical way the install the plug onto the port. The board has all the ports marked. Use the HD audio ....the port on the motherboard has a missing pin towards the middle so you should only install it the way it easily fits. USB's have a pin missing on one end and the cable from the case should have a plug where the missing pin goes

If you got a manual with this board then thoroughly read it first, if you did not get the manual then you can download the .pdf from the boards manufacture....Read It first

Look in your manual on page 1-17 and 1-19. It shows the layout for the speaker and the front panel headers.

The + for each connector should go on the positive pin. If the case connector isn't labeled with a + sign, then look for a down arrow/triangle ( v ) on one of sides of the connector. It represents the positive wire for the case connector.

I still dont see where the power sw and the reset sw go
they each only have two ports

do I just put them on the front panel section top to bottom ?

If you look on page 1-19, #9, it shows you a diagram.
