Default Friend wanting Gaming PC

So one of my friends asked me about building him a gaming PC (he's looking forward to Diablo 3). He has a budget of about 800-900. Been out of the hardware loop for a while, but this is what I came up with.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131771

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231311

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136073

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150505

ODD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371016

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...k=NZXT%20gamma

Mouse/KB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.703110

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116986

Monitor - already has a TV that he'll use with HDMI.

Total comes to just under 900.

I won't be building this right away, as it'll be a little bit till he can get all the money, plus we'll be waiting a little while after we get back to college anyway. Any other suggestions? Most likely won't be OC'ing, just wants to play games decently.

Motherboard(just as good as other one, but more possitive reviews always a good thing to look for)
- Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Ram(High speed) - Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL
Hard drive (one SSD and one standard runing Z68 smart responce technology)
- Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Case(painted interior and cable management and Usb 3.0)
- Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Storm Enforcer SGC-1000-KWN1 Black SECC / ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ATX PS2 / EPS 12V (optional ) Power Supply
Powersuppy(Very popular and well like dont want a bad power supply limiting your upgrades
- Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Will he be needing an optical drive (~$20) and Windows? I'm sure you guys get a good deal on it as students.

I'd swap out the motherboard and CPU, just in case OC-ing "most likely won't" turns into "might be fun to try"
+$10 i5 2500k.
-$10 Asus P8P67 Pro (REV 3.1).

I'd also check out the Rosewill Challenger case, its almost $10 cheaper, comes with 1 more 120mm fan, and has cable routing behind the motherboard.

Ah, forgot about the optical drive. Forgot to include Windows; was on my list but forgot to add it to the first post.

And you can get Windows through the school if you're an engineering student; but I don't believe he is.

It isn't best its just cheaper. If you want to be prepared for the future you want usb 3.0 on your case

With either of the motherboards posted in this thread there will be USB 3.0 on the case, coming out of the rear I/O panel

And right now, cheaper is better... It has to stay below 900 preferably. He originally said 800, but I said 900 would be better, so it's already going over his initial budget.

you are wrong, it is a BETTER case, in every way imaginable... it can house more fans, it has a black interior, the NZXT has cable managment, where the 300 has none, the NZXT can fit bigger cards, the NZXT has more drive bays and more HDD slots...

the NZXT Gamma is a better case in every way... period, the fact that its cheaper is icing on the cake.

and like roark said
