well my friend wants to make a custom gaming rig for world of warcraft, counter strike source, call of duty 2, battlefield 2 and maybe battlefield 2142 in medium to high video settings or graphic settings

Budget?
Does he need everything? (Moniter, keyboard, mouse speakers. etc)

E4300
ASUS P5B E
8800GTS (Or GTX)
2 GB G Skill HZ (2 x 1 GB)
Fortron 450 Watt

Main parts anyways.
Harddrives and Optical drives are of a trivial matter.

But id want to know how much he has to spend and exactly what he needs before more reccomendations.

well with no budget no one can really suggest a set list of parts but the listed parts above would be a good start

do you know how much it will be for those games to be in medium to high setting by any chance?

what resolution is his monitor?

If he plays at 1024x764 when I could put together a PC that will max out those games just about for 450 bucks if not let.

If he's playing at 1280x1000 or similar however it will cost about 550-600.

Tell me his monitor size or res.

If he has a limited budget, the gamaing rig in my signature plays every game you mentioned at HIGHEST settings, 1280x1024 on my 19" SONY LCD. It would probably go for under $1000 new right now.. I bought everything new for just under $1500 shipped about 2 years ago... (cept the x1950XT, that was added after x-mas).

If he has the budget, have him go the Core2 route

I just posted this in another topic, $560 total. If you want a core 2 duo setup just replace the motherboard with a Gigabyte ds3, the cpu with an E6300, and get a 2GB g.skill memory kit. It will then cost you $850.
