Default Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H

Thinking about purchasing this board, but would like some opinions on it first.

Here are my specs if it helps:

Corsair 2GB XMS2 DDR2-800
Thermaltake 560W PurePower

Great overclocker according to legit reviews, and it supports crossfire. Which will be handy when the R600 comes out as im planning on getting one.

It's also over $200 (NZD) cheaper than the Abit AW9D-MAX

First thing I notice. You say Overclock and XMS2 in the same little area right there and those two don't mix lmao. I wouldn't expect incredibly high FSB with them if you are getting a new mobo to overclock.

Next The 975 chipsets aren't really that good. The 965's are still the best boards out there for High FSB. Since you have an E6300 which will put out some high FSB (450+) you should look at a 965 that supports Crossfire If you really want it.

The P5B Deluxe is a good overclocker and still supports Crossfire. I would just get one of those instead.

E6300 w/ Arctic Freezer Pro 7 @ 3.6ghz 1.4Vcore
Antec 900 Case
EVGA 750i FTW Mobo
4x1GB of G.skill DDR2-800
2 8800GT in SLI
22" Samsung Syncmaster
1 250GB WD and 1 Seagate 7200.10 in RAID 0
Corsair 520HX 3DMark06 Score: 13900

for the lower end core 2's go with the 965
for higher go with a 975 chipset

thats the way i look at it
Ryzen 7 1700 / Gigabyte AB35
Deepcool Captain 240EX
32GB HyperX DDR4 / Corsair 750watt
Red Devil 480 / Corsair R270
Sandisk 960GB SSD / 2x Seagate 8tb, 2x WD 4TB

At least make sure you are getting the AB revision, not the AA (which doesn't support C2D).
