Default First time builder (gaming computer help)

Hey guys, I have been playing games on the computer for as long as I can remember. I have always gotten my computers prebuilt from the usual companies. Just recently, I have made the decision to try and build my own gaming computer. I figured its going to be much easier to do future upgrades and keep the computer up to date, let alone the money I could save. I have watched a few videos on the internet and read some guides. I think I may have a very basic understanding of how these computers are put together.

I was hoping you guys could help me out and let me know if I am making any mistakes with the parts I am picking out.

Motherboard : GIGABYTE GA-MA790
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128387

Video Card : GeForce GTX 275
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130475

Sound Card : Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102006

Power Supply : OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W ATX12V
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341019

Memory : OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227365

CPU : AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6GHz Quad Core
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103650

Fan : ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835185125

DVD Burner : LG Black 22X DVD+R SATA 22X DVD Burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136168

Hard Drive : HITACHI Deskstar
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145250

Tower : NZXT Apollo Black
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146025

I am extremely new to all this, I am kinda looking for direction. If you guys have any suggestions or changes you may recommend, feel free. I am looking to make this a decent gaming computer for myself, I don't have too many other plans for it.

Are all those parts selected compatible?

What version of windows do you recommend?

Does this seem to be in line for what I am looking to do with the computer?

Thank you so much in advance guys,
Simp

Just so you know, all your links are broken.

You were on the right track, but I fixed it up a bit for you.

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!
Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR800C44GK - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
Newegg.com - EVGA 896-P3-1170-AR GeForce GTX 275 896MB 448-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - OCZ StealthXStream OCZ700SXS 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - NZXT Apollo Black SECC Steel Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Newegg.com - LG Black 22X DVD+R SATA 22X DVD Burner - Bulk LightScribe Support - CD / DVD Burners
Newegg.com - Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2 - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

Total comes to $796.21 after shipping, then you get a whopping 105 bucks back in MIRs.

You're getting a better quad core with a pretty nice mobo. AM3 mobos are really a waste of money, because DDR3 is wasted on AM3 in dual channel. You don't need to spend the extra money.

Got you good RAM to match the mobo.

Got a better HDD for you, 640gb and fast.

The Core Contact is an unbeatable deal for the performance. It's amazing.

I took out the sound card because you don't really need one, the onboard sound is more than adequate for gaming, movies, and such. Unless you're doing some serious music recording, you won't need a dedicated card.

For an OS, grab the Win7 RC, it's free.

Make sure you download the 64bit.

It's pretty straightforward, but there are a few guides out there. I can't think of any off the top of my head, I'm sure someone will mention one.

Looking at the motherboard, you should be able to mount the Sunbeam easily. I don't see any capacitors that would be in your way.

I would replace the GTX 275 with a HD 4890 which is cheaper and slightly faster.

Newegg.com - XFX HD-489A-ZDFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
