Question First Gaming Rig

I'm building this pc and I want to know how well it is. I will probably be overclocking. If you want to suggest something then try to find them on this website. I chose this site because I can pick them up from a local store without having to bother with shipping. The resolution I'm going to be using is probably going to be 1280x1024 for a 17" monitor. And I don't plan to do any SLI/Crossfire.

Here are the parts I came up with:

Case: Canada Computers - Cases > Mid Towers : Antec Three Hundred Gaming Case ATX 3/0/(6) 2xUSB Audio No PS .

CPU: Canada Computers - CPU > Desktop AMD Processors : AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition (95W) Dual-Core Socket AM3, 3.1GHz, 7MB L2 Cache, 2000MHz HT, 65nm (HDZ550WFGIBOX).

MOBO: Canada Computers - Motherboards > Socket AM3 : Asus M4A78-EM Socket AM3 AMD 780G Chipset + ATI SB700 ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics (HDMI) Dual Channel DDR2 1066/800/667Mhz 1x PCI-Express x16 2.0 5x SATA 3Gb/s 8-Ch HD Audio GigaLAN 12x USB2.0 Support (P

Graphics Card: Canada Computers - Video Cards > PCI-Express Cards > Powered By ATI : Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 Dual Dual-Link DVI HD Audio Shader Model 4.1 800 stream processor PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card.

PSU: Canada Computers - Power Supplies > Modular Gaming PSUs : OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Power Supply (OCZ500MXSP) .

RAM: Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 1066 PC2-8500+ : Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066MHZ (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (KHX8500D2K2/4G).

Hard Drive: Canada Computers - Hard Drives > Desktop Drives > 3.5" SATA Drives : Western Digital Caviar Blue (WD2500AAKS) 250GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer (OEM).

Disk Drive: Canada Computers - CD/DVD/RW /Blu-Ray Drives > Internal DVD Drives : Samsung SH-S223F/BEBS SATA Black 22X DVD-Writer OEM.

For the OS I might have my Vista somewhere but if I don't have it I'll just use Windows 7.

Thanks for your help.

The ram you mentioned was out of stock at any nearby stores. Would these be okay as a replacement?

Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G PC2-6400 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory.

Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : A-DATA DDR2 800 240pin 4GB Kit (2x2GB) Unbuffered-DIMM Non-ECC Memory (w/ Heatsink).

The hard drive is also out of stock so I might have to stick with my original one, unless I see a good one at the store.

As for the CPU and GPU, I'll go with your suggestion. Also, will the PSU and case I picked out be okay for a little OCing?

oh well...

in that case, get this set instead

Canada Computers - Memory > Desktop Memory > DDR2 800 PC2-6400+ : OCZ (OCZ2RPR800C44GK) Reaper DDR2 PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-15 4GB (2X2GB) Memory Kit.

also, if you plan on OCing, you should look into a better cpu cooler than the stock one. and that psu should work for some OCing.

^^ what are your ambient temps?
What are your temps under load while running prime?

I find 17C at idle a bit hard to believe unless ambient temps are around 7C.
