Default First Computer Build, suggestions more than welcome!

Decided to build my own rig instead of buying a desktop that is already put together and probably overpriced It is mainly going to be used for gaming, but also for everyday general use.

I listed the components that I've picked out thus far, I just wanted to make sure that everything I picked is compatible and the best bang for my buck. Any suggestions or problems with the components I picked are greatly appreciated because you all probably have a lot more experience with this stuff than me.

Trying to keep my budget below $1500.00 US

You can find some ram kits for $13-$15 more that are 8GB.

Don't got much time for specifics, but for people that are going to suggest something, look at: CPU and Case, I see room for improvement there seeing as you have a nice budget of $1500.

Good Luck.

You need DDR3, mate. Get this: Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

If you are going AMD, don't get Athlon. Get a Phenom II.

Case is personal preference, Icey. Though, I would recommend you look at the CoolerMaster HAF series.

Yeah sorry, that's what I meant, Case-Quality wise I'm unsure about Raidmax's cases, I can personally suggest the HAF-922 quite a nice big case and it should fit some big graphics cards and cpu coolers. Also has space for a nice amount of fans.

So far from the suggestions, I have changed the RAM, CPU, and the case to the following:

Case
-COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Advanced Blue Edition RC-932-KKN3-GP ATX Full Tower Computer Case with USB 3.0, Black Interior and Four Blue LED Fans-1x 230mm front 1x 230mm top 1x 230mm side and 1x 140mm rear

RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 970 Black Edition Deneb 3.5GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

Thanks for the suggestions! Any other suggestions are more than welcome, if you think there is a better Motherboard, PSU, etc etc that I could be using please let me know.

...no idea why, with a ~$1,500 budget, you're not getting beefier suggestions, eg:

CPU: $220 Intel i5 2500K
MB: $170 MSI Z68A-GD55 (G3)
ODD: $21 Sony Optiarc 24x DVD/CD Burner
RAM: $42 8GB Corsair Vengeance low-profile 1600/CAS9
HDD: $140 1TB Seagate Barracuda
SSD: $170 120GB OCZ Agility 3
PSU: $130 Silverstone Strider 750w
GPU: $370 MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III/OC
OS: $100 Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit OEM
Case: $160 Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue

Total = $1,523 (before shipping/rebates/combos)
And there are $70 worth of rebates in there.

You could even downgrade some stuff, like a less expensive case/smaller SSD/smaller storage drive, and get a GTX 580 GPU which is currently the best single chip GPU on the market.
But, if you're not a gamer then even the GTX 570 is probably not needed and can be downgraded.
