I worded my question poorly, while on newegg i searched for Crucial Ballistix 2bg kit and it came up with 8 results. Which of the 8 options would go with the other parts?

Heres a link: Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

Would this hard drive:
Newegg.com - Seagate ST3320832SCE 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
be compatible with these parts:

e2180
8800gts 320mb
Coolermaster 690
AF7
Abit IP35-e
Corsair 520
Crucial Ballistix 2gb Kit.

Also, is there anything else needed to make a computer fully functional?

Yes it is compatible

You will need an OS, optical drive, mouse and KB to make it complete.

Any suggestions for nice optical drives? Also, would XP or Vista be a better choice for gaming, or is it just personal preference?

Well if he wants to play Crysis on DX 10, he should get Vista now and just hang in there until SP1 comes out, rather than spending more money buying both XP now and Vista later.
