Hey, My aim is to build my first computer after graduation in June. I'm scoping the market now to see what will be a decent price in 5 months, yet hold its own in compatability and performance for future value. Here is the ever changing, ever growing list of parts...

Get this... My handed down system from my brother

And I still beat HL2...Thank you very much. haha. I can't wait for a new system! 30FPS is intolerable!

you get 30 fps out of that thing? wow! It's probably not very high settings tho...

actually my computer now...that horid one above does pull 40-45 FPS in HL2 w/10x12 Res High textures Med Models 2x AA 4xANS etc. I don't think its supposed to! haha. Even NFSU 2 runs smooth 55fps w/mid settings. COD as well. LMAO GO NVIDIA DRIVERS! Oh well its age is beginning to show. But anywho... back to my new/first build!

Apiphany....DirectX8...I bet my card only runs DX8. DOH!

My PC is similar. It's a Dell *cries*. Pentium 4 2.0 ghz, Geforce 4 64mb Ti 4200, 40 & 80GB HDs, 768mb of PC2100 RAM (I added 512 a while back).

I've also beaten HL2 on lower settings with no real lag (maybe low fps but I'm used to it so I can't really notice it unless it's terrible) and can play 1v1 DMs on UT2004 on ALL max settings. However, I'm building a nice new PC soon and selling this thing.

I'm not to crazy about the ASUS board though. They tend to be kind of buugy with AMD CPU's.

Ya mine will move down the line in my house i assume..My moms computer (being at the bottom of the CPU food chain) will get the royal "OFFICE SPACE" funeral if ya know what I mean...My personal first computer way back in the day. Die mother #$% DiE haha.

Buggy with the Asus'? hmmm...I've have fine performance with my ASUS and AMD XP, but I'll run that by my brother. Hes the computer tech for my entire high school. lol.
