ATI doesn't scale well with four GPUs
I'm talking about one HD 4870X2 against 2 HD 4870X2's... all Dual-GPU cards (even your favorite nVidia) can't scale with Dual-GPU's unless you go reallly really high

hmm would 2 4870s perform as well as a 4870x2? I figure the 4870 x2 actually has 2 4850s on board or something like that

In bench marks yes. In game play....... not that noticeable. Unless your playing like 1900x1200 (24" monitor) all maxed out.

agrees wait for nehalem, you build is probably holding up fine anyway, i find that my 5000+/8800gs system holds its own in games for the time being.

Sweet, my 3650 is the weakest link when it comes to gaming. Once I get myself a 9800 GT and a nice E5200. Then I should be able to ripp through games (at a 1400x900~1600x1050 resolution)
