Yeah that XT is just a 6800 vanilla. Get a 6800GT.

6800GT was never an option. 6600GT or 6800XT. So are 12 pipelines more important than 8 or is DDR3 more important than DDR

Well..........3 more times. Seriously though I just didn't know if a base 6800 was better than the supercharged 6600. Apparently it is so obviously pipelines are more important.

So I just looked some more. I wanna know what the tech specs mean.

The 6600GT has 128bit DDR3 memory, 8 pipelines, core clock of 500Mhz and a memory clock of 1000Mhz.

The 6800 has 256bit DDR memory, 12 pipelines, core clock of 350Mhz and a memory clock of 700Mhz.

So based upon the specs why is one better than the other. Only thing the 6800 has going for it are more pipelines. I don't know if 256bit memory makes a difference, but it's only DDR. The clock speeds are slower.

? I'm not trying to be a jerk so please don't get offended, but how come everytime I ask a technical question and want technical answers I get no response? Yet when it's a quick yes or no opinion answer I get 10+ responses instantly. It's the technical stuff I'm interested in because I wanna learn what makes what and make an informed decision. I don't just wanna take someone's word for it.

The pipelines are far more important than the clock speeds. The 6800 is the better, faster video card. Get it.

Yes, the 6800 is a better card then the 6600gt. All benchmarks will show this.

K. So we've established the 6800 is better. No need to hash that anymore.

What is the significance of 128 bit memory vs 256 bit memory? DDR3 is faster memory, but it's 128 bit yet the 6800 has regular DDR at 256 bit.

And how about clock speeds and memory core speeds?
