Hey, so I'm taking on a summer project to build a computer worthy of showing off. I want some input on anything that I can do better with the parts I'm ordering, so here it goes.
Motherboard: EVGA 775i FTW
Newegg.com - EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i FTW SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Video Card(s): EVGA 9800GTX
2x Newegg.com - EVGA 512-P3-N871-AR GeForce 9800 GTX(G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Processor: Q6600
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - CPUs / Processors
RAM: 4gb(2x 2gb) OCZ DDR2 800 PC2 6400
Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
PSU: Corsair 750
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, TUV, FCC, CCC - Power Supplies
Hard Drive: 640gb WD Caviar
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
I'm pretty solid about all of those parts except for the RAM and the PSU. What is the difference in RAM like say if I went for DDR2 1066 PC2 8500
Other parts:
Thermal Paste TX-2
Newegg.com - Tuniq TX-2 Thermal Compound - Thermal Compound / Grease
Case
Newegg.com - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
CPU Cooler
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
For these I'm not really sure what case I will need. Should I go for a full tower? I don't really care all that much. I'll take recommendations on any cool looking cases that can still keep things cool. I don't really mind price all that much.
Any input from you guys would be amazingly helpful!!
Thanks in advance
Edit!!:
Ok so on second thought maybe I should just go with one 9800GTX until the new cards come out. SLI might be overkill.
