If you are getting an X48 board DEFINITELY get either a 4850 or 4870 gpu. The 9800GTX would be limited to just that one card, but with an ATI card you could do crossfire with that board for increased performance. Plus the 4850 is outperforming the 9800GTX for the same price.

the monitor, 5ms response timer isnt great on a 22inch, if you live near a currys store you could purchase Currys - Shop for Monitors TFT - Samsung SM2232BW 22" Widescreen TFT Monitor
thats if you do gaming, i bought one a few weeks ago and dont regret it one bit, 200pounds well spent, if you live anywere else you can always buy it off ebuyer

stay w/ the OCZ V 2. Perhaps a bigger HD because 160gb these days really doesn't go far.

well, ive heard that the 4850 and the 4870 both have a very high idle temp....so idk if that would do

I always thought ATI runs cooler and more energy efficient than Nvidia

The tempartures of the Ati cards are nothing to worry about, those tempartures are that way because the fan is only at 20%, but that can be changed.

People are seeing dramatic drops in temps from increasing the fan speeds..

What OS are you planning on running? I don't recommend more than 2 gigs of RAM unless you have a 64bit OS.
