Question Final Decision

Alright I have most of the parts picked out but to stay within my budget I need to make a decision on the graphics card. I want the best I can buy for the money I'm willing to spend.

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Storm Scout SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Newegg.com - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
Newegg.com - ASUS P6T LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives
Newegg.com - OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Voltage Desktop Memory Model OCZ3G1600LV6GK - Desktop Memory
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Power Supplies
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 22X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE 22X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

+ a monitor ($180)
all of this comes to almost exactly $1200.

This leaves me with about $350 that I am willing to spend on a graphics card. I want a single gpu not two in sli/crossfire and I want the best I can get for that money.
Thanks!

Does it matter whether I get my card from evga or not?

get this combo, has the same mobo and cpu you picked, save $40

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

and what monitor are you getting for $180? i would imagine that if its that cheap, then it will have a lower resolution, so you probably wont need a $300+ gpu to max games on it.

Why not Crossfire when you have a crossfire ready board and a powerful enough PSU? Crossfire/SLI is a lot better than it ever was now.

I honestly would go crossfire 4870's which will beat out a single 285GTX by a lot which are around 315 bucks.

However a 2850GTX is the most powerful single card you can get

^ But why deal with crossfiring two 4870's when for a bit cheaper you can get a 4870x2? The XFX 4970x2 is $369.

Because a single 4870x2 costs $370 where as two 4870 1GB's cost 300. Plus most benchmarks show the 4870's in crossfire beating out a single 4870x2. It's odd I know

XFX 1Gb 4870 -$150

well, the GTX 285 is the most power single GPU out in the market now, and later on if you want you can SLI by adding another one.

the X58 supports SLI and Crossfire
