Can i suggest waiting for dx10 release, thus saving money and buying something that will be just as sufficient til more cards come out and they all drop in price.
Spending $600 now in one chunk is better than paying $300 now, then $400 later when DX10 comes out in my opinion, especially since I have the money available right now. I do understand what you're saying, though.

I would suggest an evga 680i, e6600, 8800gtx, 2x1gb DDR2-800 ram.
If you want to save some money, you can go for the gigabye 965P-DS3. It overclocks pretty good for C2Ds.

Fair enough, but $200-300 now, then $400 in a year or so for a card that will most likely be better than the 8800 seems better to me.

Sa'll about patience really, its your money though and its a fair point you got.

Make sure you get a big case for that gfx card ;]

If you have one stick of 2gb, you won't be able to run it in dual channel. So two sticks of 1gb, in dual channel is faster, than one stick thats not in dual channel.
