Default A few miscellaneous questions

Well i've got a few questions that i need answered. Here they are:

1.) How well does this RAM perform? I was thinking about getting 4 gigs of this.
Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

2.) Is the above double sided RAM or single sided?

3.) Is there a method to figuring out if RAM is double or single sided?

4.) Is there a performance or heat difference between 4 x 1gb sticks opposed to 2 x 2gb sticks?

5.) Would it be better if I bought 2 gigs of 1066 mhz RAM now and maybe bought another 2 gigs later when I get more money?

You don't need to answer all of these questions cuz theres kinda a lot, but if you know the answer to any of them, please post.

Default Re: A few miscellaneous questions

1 - looks aight
2 - not sure, ask ocz
3 - yes, could be based on model number or asking maker
4 - doubt it (negligible based on physics, ie., 2 sticks allows more room for air flow but only minimal and though double sided is faster, it is again, negligible)
5 - not better not worse...just find the right matchup (but doesn't really matter just defaults to lowest)

examples
Crucial memory
CMX256-2700C2 is double sided
CMX256A-2700C2 is single sided
CMX256-3200C2 is double sided
CMX256A-3200C2 is single sided

additional info:
double and single sided are old and antiquated terms...they used to apply, but no longer...it should be 'single banked' or 'double banked'

your motherboard may only support single...but i doubt it unless it's a very old system....

just providing possibly relevant data

yeah it is, and its better to get 4sticks of 1gb but its doesnt reallt matter. its a waste tho coz it cost more for 4*1 when the performance is so small just get 2*2
