^There's no tax when you order from newegg because they are an online only company.
Yeah there is. I'm pretty sure the way it works is if you live in the same state as where the company is located, then you have to pay the sales tax. Because i live in california and newegg is in california i have to pay the stupid 8.25% sales tax when i buy stuff from newegg.

I'm pretty sure the people that live in state that Newegg is located in have to pay sales tax, woot.com is located in texas, and people in texas that order from them still have to pay sales tax even though they are an online only company, but correct me if i'm wrong.

O wow that sucks. I've always thought that newegg was online-only, because everyone I have talked to, including other people here on tech forums, have always said they didn't need to pay sales tax so I just assumed it didn't have a physical location, just warehouses.

Is there actually a brick-and-mortar store located near you? That'd be pretty sweet. Except for the tax lol.

Online businesses require you to pay sales tax wherever they have physical locations at. Even if those locations are just warehouses. That may change in the future though because theres been talk about federal or state taxes being added to online stores.
