OK, so in other words, put off the processor upgrade until I'm ready for a mainboard upgrade as well...
Also for the record, my current E6600 is overclocked by 800MHz to 3.2GHz at 711 FSB (1422 rated) with the 9x multiplier. Even assuming that the current limiter in my overclocking is the 650i chipset FSB and not the processor, given the Wolfdale's E0 stepping and 9.5 multiplier, I should still at the very least be able to push the E8400 up to 3.37GHz with the same FSB frequency... though given that I ultimately want more than that, I'll probably wait and get it, or the E8600 along with the ASUS Maximus II, in another upgrade package later, when I have more money, and time to reinstall/configure my system, so I can overclock it without said limits, and benefit from the features of the new mobo.
